Position overview

We offer an on-site practical legal training (PLT) program. It runs in partnership with The College of Law. Over 18 weeks, you'll gain real, practical experience working directly at Avant Law. We're looking for three graduate lawyers: one in Brisbane, one in Melbourne and one in Sydney. This is a full-time role on a fixed-term 12-month contract.

You’ll also get mentorship and professional development. You’ll work closely with experienced lawyers on real cases and legal proceedings.  

Your key responsibilities

You’ll learn how to deliver high-quality, timely legal advice and support to Avant’s members. At the same time, you’ll build your own professional skills.   

Responsibilities include: 

  • assist lawyers with legal research and case preparation 
  • draft legal documents such as briefs, memos and contracts  
  • conducting legal research and analysis.  
  • review and summarise case files and legal materials  
  • attend client meetings, court hearings and other legal proceedings 
  • provide administrative support and manage case files.  

About you

We're looking for individuals who are: 

  • Driven and ambitious: hold an appropriate legal qualification and be eligible for admission as a solicitor in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Excellent communicator: proven written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Organised and proactive: able to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic work environment.
