Our purpose

The purpose of Avant Foundation is to create transformational change in healthcare through medical research, medical education and health programs.

We have three specific objectives to:

support research that will improve quality, safety, sustainability and professionalism in the practice of medicine
fund programs working with medical practitioners to improve patient care and health outcomes
help doctors overcome their experience of disadvantage in the pursuit of their medical or healthcare studies.

Grants

Avant Foundation has four grant programs to help us fulfil our impact objectives.

Member Grants

Grants between $5,000 and $50,000. Open to Avant members, with a special focus on supporting early career doctors.

Transformation Grant

$1 million awarded annually to organisations to create transformational change in healthcare, with a special focus on health systems.

Research Grants

Grants to organisations up to $100,000 to advance medicine by funding excellence in quality, safety and sustainability through research, with a special focus on health systems.

Bursaries

Investing in the future of healthcare by supporting people undertaking education in medicine, with a focus on equity.

Professional indemnity insurance is issued by Avant Insurance Limited (ACN 003 707 471, AFSL 238 765) (‘AIL’). Avant Cyber Insurance cover is available to eligible Avant Practice Medical Indemnity Policy holders up to the cessation of their policy and is provided under a Group Policy between Liberty Mutual Insurance Company (ACN 086 083 605) and AIL. Avant Travel Cover is available under a Group Policy between QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited (ACN 003 191 035, AFSL 239 545) (QBE) and Avant Mutual Group Limited (‘AMGL’). Avant Travel Cover is underwritten by QBE and AMGL may receive a benefit for arranging cover. Avant Finance is a registered business name of Avant Doctors’ Finance Pty Ltd (ACN 637 769 361) and licensed to Avant Doctors’ Finance Brokers Pty Ltd (ACN 640 406 784). Avant Doctors’ Finance Brokers Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Avant Doctors’ Finance Pty Ltd.
