We’ve been protecting doctors for 130 years, allowing them to practise with confidence so they can keep serving our community - it's why we were founded and what continues to drive us today.
We provide an extensive range of products and services in the areas of insurance, lending, health, legal and practice management.
Our story
A small group of doctors founded Avant in 1893 to protect themselves against litigation. We have grown to be Australia’s largest medical indemnity insurer, with more than 90,000 members.
Over the last decade we have expanded our products and services to support doctors in their professional and personal lives.
Governance
As a member-owned organisation (a mutual), our members are at the heart of everything we do. Doctors are on and chair our Board to represent members’ interests, values and priorities. Our financial strength delivers sustainability, and any profits are reinvested to benefit our members and the community.
