You can contact us or complete a payment authority form. Any missed premium payments will be debited from your account to bring your policy payments up to date.

Your policy will lapse due to the non-payment of premiums and the process for reinstating it will depend on how long it has been lapsed.

If your policy lapses:

  • We will notify you of the date your payment is due to reinstate your cover.
  • If you are unable to make a payment by this date, please contact us to discuss your options.

You can apply to increase your cover at any time by completing an application. In some circumstances, you may be eligible to increase your cover without medical underwriting using the Future Needs Guarantee facility within your policy.

Lump Sums (Life, TPD, Trauma): If you meet eligibility criteria based on personal or professional events that occurred in the policy year, you may be able to increase your lump sum cover. This increase can be up to 25% without the need for medical underwriting.

Income protection: You may be able to increase your monthly sum insured by up to 30% without medical underwriting. This must be completed within:

  • 30 days of your renewal, or
  • 30 days of submitting your personal tax return,

The litigation support benefit is only available to medical practitioners who are voting members of Avant and insured under an Avant Practitioner Indemnity Insurance Policy or Avant Intern/RMO1 Indemnity Insurance Policy.

What does it cover?

If you meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Product Disclosure Statement, the litigation support benefit will pay the lower of:

  • the monthly sum insured stated on your plan schedule; or
  • 50% of your pre-litigation income less any post-litigation income

Eligibility

You must:

  • Be a voting member of Avant at the time of making a claim under this benefit.
  • Have indemnity and legal representation provided by Avant under your Avant Practitioner Indemnity Insurance Policy or Avant Intern/RMO1 Indemnity Insurance Policy for:
    • a disciplinary, criminal, or coronial matter
    • a civil liability matter
    • any other agreed matter.
  • Experience a drop in income below 50% of your pre-litigation income.
