    When you’ve got a family, the certainty of knowing you’ll be covered is even more important.

    In the event of death, or when an illness or injury permanently prevent you from practising in your own specialty, Avant’s Life and TPD Cover provides a lump sum benefit.

    Things to consider when taking out Life and TPD Cover

    Life Cover benefits and features

    • A lump sum payment to your beneficiary or beneficiaries upon your death with an advance payment of up to $25,000 available following your death.
    • An advance payment of the full death benefit if you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness.
    • In the event of financial hardship, you have the option to suspend premiums for up to 6 consecutive months. During this period, you do not have to pay premiums but cannot claim for events that occur during this period of premium suspension.
    • Choose from an unlimited maximum amount of Life Cover to meet your needs and those of your practice including ‘key person’ and ‘buy-sell’ agreements.
    • Larger cover increases, more often and without the need for medical tests. Flexibility to increase cover by up to 25% every year until age 55 for events such as starting an internship or training program, qualifying as a fellow in your specialty, becoming a partner, starting a practice, having children or taking out a mortgage.
    • If your Life Cover is reduced due to a full claim being paid on a linked TPD or Trauma plan, it will be automatically reinstated after only six months.
    • World wide cover – Your Life Insurance Cover plan will cover you 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world.

    TPD Cover benefits and features

    • Choose to have cover up to $5 million cover if you can never work in your own specialty again.
    • A full benefit is payable for occupationally contracted HIV, hepatitis B or C.
    • Up to $500,000 advance payment if you lose a limb or sight in one eye (total and irrecoverable, in both cases).
    • In the event of financial hardship, you have the option to suspend premiums for up to 6 consecutive months. During this period, you do not have to pay premiums but cannot claim for events that occur during this period of premium suspension.
    • Larger insurance cover increases, more often and without the need for medical tests. Flexibility to increase your cover by up to 25% every year for things such as starting an internship or training program, qualifying as a fellow in your specialty, becoming a partner, or starting a practice, having children or taking out a mortgage.
    • If your TPD Cover is reduced due to a full claim being paid on a linked Trauma plan, it will be automatically reinstated after only six months.
    • World wide cover – Your TPD Cover plan will cover you 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world.

    Simple options

    • Choose any amount greater than $50,000 on your Life Cover.
    • Choose between $50,000 and up to $5 million on your TPD Cover.
    • Your choice of stepped or level premiums.
    • Option to pay premiums through your self-managed superannuation fund where cover is taken under superannuation.
    • A range of ownership options to suit your circumstances including self-ownership, ownership by partners in your practice, another individual, a company or trust.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for Life Cover and/or TPD Cover, at the time of application you must be:

    • an Australian resident,
    • aged between 20 to 70 for Life Cover or between 20 to 60 for TPD Cover; and
    • a registered medical practitioner.
