Avant’s claims data shows surgeons have the highest rate of claims, highlighting how critical it is to pinpoint any issues with your care before they escalate into a formal complaint or claim.

Patients are at the centre of healthcare and most claims, so it’s vital to understand how they feel about the care you provide. A positive patient experience has been associated with a lower risk of having a claim and benefits such as improved adherence to medical advice and better health outcomes.

However, patients may not be forthcoming with feedback unless they are given an easy, confidential way to provide it.

New patient feedback service

As part of Avant Assist, a new member support service, Avant is offering members an exclusive opportunity to access a new patient feedback service.*

The service is delivered by Insync, an Australian research consultancy with expertise in healthcare surveys, who will manage the service and provide support to subscribers. Members are reassured that Avant will not have access to survey results.

The service centres on the Surgical Care Patient Survey, which enables your patients to give you anonymous feedback about their care from initial consultation through to post-op follow-up. The survey has been designed specifically for surgeons, based on the US Government’s Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Surgical Care Survey.

The combination of specific and open-ended questions allows you to identify what your patients think you and your practice team do well and areas to target for improvement. In some professional colleges, the feedback may be used to obtain CPD points.

Key service features:

  • A unique survey link to share with your patients (via email, text or the web).
  • A unique survey QR code to promote the survey within your practice.
  • Access to a secure, interactive reporting portal to view, filter and export your results.
  • Survey promotion templates including posters, patient FAQs and email/SMS invitations.
  • Service support through an email and telephone help desk.

Members can subscribe to the service for $300 per year through Insync.
