Avant New Fellow win 1 of 5, $5,000 cash Join Promotion Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

The promoter of the New Fellow win 1 of 5, $5,000 cash Join Promotion (“Promotion”) is Avant Mutual Group Limited (ABN 58 123 154 898) (“Avant”) of Level 6, Darling Park 3, 201 Sussex Street, Sydney, NSW 2000 (“Promoter”). These terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions"), as updated from time to time, govern the Promotion.

2. Who can enter?

  1. To enter, you must be over 18 years of age and a doctor who has obtained fellowship from your medical college in the period between Sunday 1 January 2023 and  Wednesday 30 April 2025 that are not deemed ineligible in accordance with subclause 2.2 below.
  2. Directors and employees of the Promoter and its related bodies corporate (as that term is defined in the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)) (“Related Bodies Corporate”), and immediate family members of each of these persons are ineligible to enter. Persons covered by an Avant practitioner indemnity insurance policy that was purchased prior to Tuesday 21 January 2025 are ineligible to enter.

3. Promotion Dates

The Promotion will commence at 9am AEST on Tuesday 21 January 2025 and close at 5pm AEST on Wednesday 30 April 2025 (the “Promotion Period”).

4. How to Enter

  1. The Promotion is free to enter.
  2. To enter you must, during the Promotion Period, apply, be accepted for and purchase an Avant practitioner indemnity insurance policy and continue to hold this policy at the date of the prize draw.
  3. Each person submitting their details and satisfying the requirements will automatically have their name entered into the draw. Entries received outside the Promotion Period will not be considered.
  4. Only one entry is permitted per entrant.
  5. Incomplete or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.

5. Prizes

  1. There are 5 prizes to be awarded, each consisting of $5,000 AUD cash. The total prize pool is valued at $25,000.
  2. Each entrant can win a maximum of one prize.
  3. To receive the prize, winners must provide the Promoter with the details of an Australian bank account, held in their name, that they wish the prize to be deposited into;
  4. The additional prize terms are as follows:
    i) there is no cost involved with the winners claiming their prize;
    ii) no bonus prizes will be awarded;
    iii) winners should expect to receive the prize within one month of the prize draw. The Promoter will use reasonable commercial endeavours to notify the winners of any delays in processing the bank transfer; and
    iv) Promoter is not liable for any loss, damage or injury suffered (even if caused by negligence) as a result of accepting and/or using a prize, or any delays in processing the bank transfer, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

6. Selection of Winners

Prize draw will take place at 11am AEST on Thursday 29 May 2025 at the Sydney office of Avant, located at Level 6, Darling Park 3, 201 Sussex Street, Sydney NSW 2000. The first 5 entries randomly drawn by random number generator will be awarded a prize.

7. Notification of Winners

  1. Winners will be notified by telephone and in writing by email within two days of the draw (and in any event no later than 7 days of the draw) and their last name, first initial and postcode will be published on the Avant website at https://avant.org.au/2025-new-fellow-promotion on Monday 2 June 2025 (and in any event no later than 30 days after the draw).
  2. Prizes will be delivered to the winner’s nominated Australian bank account as notified by the winner. The email address used for notification will be the email address notified by the winner and as held in the Avant member data base. 
  3. The Promoter reserves the right to request verification of identity, residential address of winners and any other information relevant to the entry. Any requirements regarding verification will be at the promoter’s discretion.

8. Unclaimed Prizes

If necessary, a second chance draw which will be done by way of a random number generator that draws a winner at random, will be held at 11am AEST on Thursday 4 September 2025 at the Sydney office of Avant, located at Level 6, Darling Park 3, 201 Sussex Street, Sydney NSW, in order to distribute prize/s that has not been claimed within 90 days. Winners will be notified by telephone and in writing by email within 2 days of the draw (and in any event no later than 7 days after the draw) and their last name, first initial and postcode will be published on the Avant website at https://avant.org.au/2025-new-fellow-promotion within 30 days of the draw.

9. Publicity

Entrants consent to the use of their image and name for promotional activities by the Promoter and its Related Bodies Corporate and acknowledge that it is a condition of taking the Prize that all winners agree to promotional activities, including the use of their names and images without additional compensation.

10. General

  1. All entrants indemnify the Promoter and its Related Bodies Corporate against all liability, cost, loss or expense arising out of accepting the prize or participation in the promotion, including but not limited to loss of income and personal injury.
  2. In addition to the purposes notified to you during your application for an Avant practitioner indemnity policy, details from entries (including personal information) may be collected and used by the Promoter for the purposes of conducting the Promotion, conducting the Promoter’s business, communicating with you and complying with the law. If you don’t provide this information the Promoter may not be able to register you for the prize draw or provide services to you. The Promoter may disclose your personal information to contracted service providers as reasonably necessary to facilitate the draw. For more information on how to access or correct your personal information held or to make a complaint, please read the Promoter’s Privacy Policy or contact the Promoter’s Privacy Officer at privacy@avant.org.au. By participating in the Promotion, entrants consent to the use of their information as described.
  3. Disputes concerning the Promotion will be resolved by the Promoter at its sole discretion, acting reasonably and with regards to the spirit of the Promotion.
  4. The Promoter reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time for the purposes of facilitating the continued operation of the Promotion, subject to any regulatory approval required before doing so. 
  5. If for any reason any aspect of this Promotion is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of computer virus, communications network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failure or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion and invalidate any affected entries, or suspend or modify a prize, subject to State or Territory regulation.
